HOW EASY IS THIS

Last October my knitting group had it's first "ANNUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL"  Those who wanted to participate made homemade treats and brought their latest canning to exchange with others. Of course there was more food to nibble on than we could possible have consumed

 A table full of our work was set out for all to see and gush over. You had to bring one to taste and I think 8 to exchange .............such fun.

We had jams jellies homemade cracker jacks cookies beets herb vinegars granola and so much more. You also brought the recipe for all to have.Which brings me to the simple part. ALL THOSE CHRISTMAS CARDS THAT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH......

I made a pattern of the top of my canning jar using a thin plastic cover.The plastic actually allowed me to see what I wanted to cut.

Then I just cut out the circles..............

And now I'll have lovely toppers to place on my canning jar for our next annual festival






Not to mention just the perfect look for Christmas gifting.....pretty pleased with this. Just the right amount of crafting for January......said the Hobbit

IT'S SUNDAY..............WHAT'S HAPPENING??

 Today I am taking a journey into the past ..............Climbing up these stairs will take me to a room where my children put all the things they didn't have the heart to throw away.

With four grown children ...........there are many "I can't throw this away" items.

 All have been warned that I'm making this journey.

So.......with garbage bag in hand, the journey begins. Wish me luck !

We're back....I think I had too much time to think!

Ok......My computer was having a few problems,  and I thought I would be gone for quite some time. Fixing the computer just wasn't in my budget.Well..........would you believe that one day I decided to turn it on just for old time sake and it came on.I was shocked!!!! For 3 days I had tried in vain to no avail.I spoke to it .......tapped it gently with my finger ........a little harder with my thumb. Finally I closed the cover and decided to move on.This gave me lots of time to plan new projects ...........and plan I did.

The watercolor above was done by my number 1 daughter Renee It was a mother's day gift several years ago.I've always loved the colors and thought "this is what morning should look like".So I am using it to guide me in my "doing the bathroom project"........Wish me luck! I tend to get boggled in details and sometimes a little project can go on forever ..............if you know what I mean................said the hobbit

Easter and new beginnings

Hope everyone enjoyed their Easter sunday. It was beautiful here in N.H. a little cold but, full of sunshine and not a snowflake in sight. The children were all busy and off in different directions so, we didn't see them today,but, it was a great day to visit the moms. My mother is still in rehab and champing at the bit to be let out. She is 91,but,you'd never know. She was all guzzied up, had her hair done, pearls in her ears , looking oh so fine and ready to receive her guest. My brother was also there. We had tea in the dining room and I have to say they really do make an effort to make the patients feel at home.Unfortunately, there is no replacement for home where my mother is concerned. She wants out period. We had a great visit filled with good memories of life on the farm and lots of laughs. I brought cheese and crusty bread which she enjoyed, flowers that really hit the spot with her and sugar free candy. She has been diagnosed with diabetes but she claimed I could have brought her the real thing and she would have eaten a little at a time. Mmm truth or?? Visiting with my husbands mother wasn't as much fun. She has Altzheimers and she didn't know who we were and told us that she didn't care who we were she was tired and wanted to go to sleep. The visit was a short one. Came home by way of Concord and stopped at the Common Man a N.H. based chain of restaurants.It was quite good for Easter sunday lots of people but, still they manage to make you feel comfortable and welcomed.

I attempted to dye some eggs this year. I dont't know what possessed me to do it,no one will get to see them so,I thought I'd show them to you out there [are you out there].If you look real close you can see a faint design on the eggs. They were tied with fabric, a la Martha style, before plunging into the hot dye. It wasn't what I had hoped for but then not a total lost. I can still eat the eggs.




Champignon wanted to let everyone see that we are working on the pantry.It isn't the best picture but she is making sure we have the project done in March. Hobbits got to run.I just remembered I promised someone a corn cozy.Better get popping Ha Ha
